The cross twill weave used gives the HOPPEDIZ® Baby Sling excellent and single-coloured stretchability in both diagonal directions. This allows the sling to adjust itself optimally to both the baby's and the carrier's body, and to support the baby's back. In doing so, the sling does not stretch, and it does not lose its stretch even if heavier babies are carried for longer periods.

The yarn which is used to weave the HOPPEDIZ® Baby Sling is made 100% out of long-piled cotton.

High-quality threaded yarn is used in both warp and weft. This supports the diagonal stretchability and the holding power of the weave, and guarantees exceptional durability.

Thanks to the high-quality, non-toxic and heavy metal-free dyes which are used, the HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings are extremely kind to the skin.

The natural yarns are dyed before weaving (this process is known as yarn dyeing). This means that the yarns are exceptionally colour-fast. Thanks to this the HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings still look like new even after many washes (here we mean, of course, only when using washing powder without fluorescent whitening agents).

The yarns used are neither pre-bleached nor chemically finished, and are also completely free of post-treatment.

The HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings are not pre-shrunk after weaving. This production method is unnecessary and expensive, and results in unnecessary environmental pollution due to the resulting soap suds. For this reason, HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings are slightly longer than stated before the first wash, and only have the stated length after this.

The HOPPEDIZ® Baby Sling can be washed at up to 60°C (30°C or 40°C is, however, normally sufficient) and can be dried in a tumble drier. This means that it becomes pleasantly soft even without fabric softeners.

Stable positioning of the HOPPEDIZ® Baby Sling is guaranteed by the double-hemmed edges, even under longer and heavier loading.

The edges are woven in contrasting colours so that they are easier to find when pulling tight.

A marker in contrasting colours indicates the centre of the cloth, which makes finding the centre during tying considerably easier.

The HOPPEDIZ® Baby Sling is cut obliquely and parallel at the ends so that the cloth ends are easier to tie knots with because they are not so thick and podgy.

Harmful substances check

We are often asked about possible "harmful substances" in our baby slings. This is very understandable, because sensitive, thin baby skin cannot defend itself against harmful substances as well as an adult's skin. Our slings have been regularly tested for harmful substances in German and Swiss laboratories since we have been selling HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings.

In the ecological test carried out by the German ÖKO-Test organisation for its small children year-book 2005, our Casablanca baby sling was rated "VERY GOOD" overall.

Independently of this, the HOPPEDIZ company will continue to have their baby slings tested in independent laboratories to guarantee continuous high quality.

COC slings

We also sell Slings made out of 100% Cotton from controlled organic crops.

Here, we use raw cotton from growers which do not use any pesticides or synthetic fertilisers on the fields. Since the cotton is picked by hand, the use of defoliants is unnecessary.

Where does the COC cotton for our HOPPEDIZ® Baby Slings come from?

We purchase our COC cotton directly from growers in India in order to prevent unnecessary transport. Growing of COC cotton is still in the initial stages in India, but due to the increasing demand more and more Indian growers are turning to COC cotton in the long-term. The internationally recognised SKAL organisation checks growing conditions in order to guarantee that COC cotton has been grown according to ecological and social requirements. If the production works (as is the case for the cotton supplier to HOPPEDIZ®) fulfils the requirements, SKAL issues a certificate for the quantities supplied. You can find out more information about SKAL here (currently available only in English and Dutch).

Baby slings are the most natural and comfortable way to carry your baby.
